The Hearth Shop
I am the managing partner of AU Fireplace Group LLC which currently consists of two stores: The Hearth Shop in Westlake Ohio founded in early 1950 and Fireplaces N Fixin’s in Martin’s Ferry Ohio founded in 1977. I also own The Chimney and Masonry Company est. 1997, a construction company that rebuilds fireplaces and redesigns hearths. In 2018, I completed the HPBA Government Affairs Academy in DC.
My dedicated staff and installers at both locations are committed to maintaining strong home town fireplaces stores that sell quality products and provide installation and maintenance services to our customers.
The HBPA membership and my tenure on the Midstates Board has been an extremely rewarding experience which has afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with peers in the industry that share my love of fireplaces.
I feel the industry is in on solid footing currently despite significant changes over the last 5 years due to product regulations and manufacturer mergers. And if you vote to retain me on the board, I will continue to be a voice for the retailers in the industry who are working hard to solve homeowners’ fireplace problems one home at a time.

Grand Rapids, MI
For the past thirty-three years Dale has worked in the hearth industry. Thirty-one of those years have been as president and owner of Remmelts Marketing, a manufacturer’s representative agency. While based in Michigan, they currently serve the entire Midwest region.
As a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI with a B.A. in psychology/sociology and a minor in business, the marketing profession was a natural goal for Dale’s career path. The challenges and rewards in working with his manufactures and customers have provided him with a vast knowledge and experience of the hearth industry, both of which can only be gained after many years of service.
The personal growth, friendships, and professional opportunities Dale has gained throughout the years in the hearth and patio industry are true blessings in his life. The opportunity to serve on the MSHPBA board and as the MSHPBA president for the last 2 years has allowed him in some small way to give back to the industry which has given him so much.
